시흥시, ‘제6회 대한민국 축제엑스포’서 시흥갯골축제 홍보 ‘총력’

Ansan City to host the 22nd Ansan International Street Drama Festival on May 1st...Provide a variety of performances and participatory programs

Ansan City announced through a regular briefing on the 14th that it will hold the "22nd Ansan International Street Theater Festival" for three days from May 1 to 3. The festival will be planned and promoted by Ansan City and Ansan Cultural Foundation, and will provide citizens with rich cultural experiences through various performances and side events consisting of a total of 95 programs.

The festival will be held at a total of 14 performance sites, including eight major venues in Ansan Culture Plaza, three commercial districts, and three bases, where domestic and foreign street art works will meet the audience. The opening performance will be Dongchun Circus' Variety Circus Show, which boasts a 100-year tradition, and the closing performance will feature "WOW," a combination of aerial performances, acrobatics and comedy. The closing ceremony will mark the end with a fantastic fireworks show.

Four overseas works and 16 domestic works were selected as official participants in this year's festival, and there are production support works "Majoo" (Yehwa) and "Citizen's Version" performances featuring the stories of the Ansan area, which will further strengthen the publicity and participation of the festival.

A variety of planning programs have also been prepared. In addition to a space dedicated to children and teenagers, "Music Street" centered on indie busking, programs linked to local commercial districts, and participatory installation art "Box Miro" and "Dream Balloon" will be operated. In particular, the Water Square will be created as an experiential space for family visitors, and a large ad balloon "Little Prince," a large duck sculpture, and a water playground using a number of duck dolls will be installed so that children can experience street art naturally.

For the convenience of visitors, Ansan City provides reserved seats for wheelchairs and mobility impaired people at all performance venues, and operates multilingual information booths such as English, Vietnamese, and Russian. In addition, some concert halls have improved the viewing environment by arranging front-seat cushions, middle mini benches, and back-seat standing areas. In addition, the audience-centered and meticulous preparations have been made by providing festival map cushions through Instagram events.

Through this festival, Ansan City is expected to popularize street art and revitalize local commercial districts, and establish itself as a festival where citizens and art work together.

시흥시는 오는 17일부터 19일까지 사흘간 수원컨벤션센터에서 열리는 ‘제6회 대한민국 축제엑스포(K-Festival Expo)’에 참가해 ‘제21회 시흥갯골축제’와 주요 관광명소를 적극 홍보한다.

이번 박람회는 (사)한국지방신문협회와 중부매일이 주최하고 ㈜한국전시산업원이 주관하는 행사로, 전국 지자체와 관련 기관이 참여해 지역 대표 축제를 소개하는 자리다. 시흥시는 전용 홍보관을 운영하며 오는 9월 18일부터 20일까지 개최되는 ‘제21회 시흥갯골축제’의 매력을 알리고 축제 인지도를 높일 계획이다.

특히 박람회 부대행사인 ‘대한민국 대표 축제 마스코트 콘테스트’에는 시흥시 대표 캐릭터 ‘해로·토로’가 출전한다. 해로·토로는 온라인 사전 투표에서 대중의 높은 관심을 받은 데 이어, 현장 행진(퍼레이드)과 장기 자랑을 통해 관람객과 적극 소통하며 축제 분위기를 한층 끌어올릴 예정이다.

이와 함께 시흥시 홍보관에서는 생생한 체험형 포토존과 나만의 캐릭터를 합성해 주는 인공지능(AI) 기반 캐릭터 합성 사진촬영 부스 등 다양한 참여형 콘텐츠를 운영해 관람객의 관심을 유도할 계획이다.

시 관계자는 “이번 엑스포는 ‘2026~2027 문화관광축제’로 연속 지정된 시흥갯골축제를 전국에 알릴 좋은 기회”라며 “해로·토로의 활약과 특별한 체험 프로그램이 마련된 시흥시 홍보관에 많은 관심과 방문을 바란다”라고 말했다.

한편, ‘제6회 대한민국 축제엑스포’는 행사 기간 오전 10시부터 오후 6시까지 운영되며, 마지막 날인 19일은 오후 5시까지 진행된다.

올해 21회째를 맞은 시흥갯골축제는 국내 유일의 내만갯골을 품은 갯골생태공원의 환경적 특성을 살려 갯골이라는 자연에서 쉬고 배우고 즐기는 다양한 생태ㆍ예술프로그램을 선보이며, 일반 시민은 물론 외지 관광객들로부터 인기를 끌고 있다. ‘2026~2027 문화관광축제’로 연속 지정되며, 대한민국 대표 생태문화축제로서의 위상을 다시 한번 인정받았다.
